Mini-Maycomb Project
Group Members: Anna Ryburn
Working with Anna was a lot of fun. She brought in tons of great ideas, and she made each minute of the project enjoyable.
In this project, we were supposed to create a small model relating to the book, To Kill a Mockingbird. In my group, we made a small doghouse. The house was supposed to belong to Tim Johnson, the rabid dog in the story, who eventually is shot.
Here's a picture of out first sketch:
And here is a picture of our final product:
While doing this project, I learned a few things about building and crating models. It's actually a lot easier than I thought it was.
One thing that went well in this project was the transition of our sketch to our final. The design basically stayed the same throughout the whole project.
However, a struggle that we did encounter was the absence of cutting tools. We spent half of the first day searching, and eventually found one buried under some cardboard. The next day, we were sure to grab one early on.
We worked hard and efficiently on this project, but one thing that we could have worked on more was the explanation for our product. It was sort of a last minute thing, and it could have been longer and more elaborate if we had more time.
If I could change anything from this project, I would give more time to the students to build. We came up with some pretty amazing things, but they could have been better if we had just another day or two.
